Confucius said: "A youth must be filial towards his parents and respectful to elders. To be filial towards one's parents and to respect one's elders is the root of bebevolence. He should love everyone but draw close only to those who demonstrate benevolence. Should he have energy to spare, let him spend it on reflecting on his work."
